Nepal - General Information
Time
Nepal standard time is 5 hrs 45 minutes ahead of GMT and 15 minutes
ahead of Indian standard time.
Religion
Nepal is the only Hindu Kingdom in the world. Hindu temples and
Buddhist shrines are scattered all over the kingdom. Nepal is the
birthplace of Lord Buddha, the light of Asia, There is a complex
blending of Hinduism and Buddhism in Nepal.
Kathmandu from Bangkok, Bombay Calcutta, Delhi, Dubai, Dhaka,
Paro (Bhutan), Varanasi, Frankfurt, Paris, Hongkong, Karachi,
London, Moscow, Singapore and Lhasa. The international articles
brought by the visitor varies according to volume and value of the
goods. A tourist may bring in dutiable goods, such as tobacco and
liquors, within the prescribed quantity free of duty, Carrying
narcotics, arms and ammunition are strictly prohibited.
PASSPORT AND VISA
A minimum six months valid passport will be required at the
Tribhuvan International Airport for all the tourists. A visa is
necessary to enter Nepal and can be obtained from Royal Nepal
Embassy or entry points in Nepal

Multiple Entry up to 60 days USD 50
CUSTOMS
Passengers arriving atTribhuvan International Airport without any
dutiable articles, you have to pass through the Red Channel for
detailed customs clearance.
Apart from used personal belongings, visitors are allowed to bring
to Nepal free of duty cigarettes (200) or cigars (50), distilled
liquor (1.15 liter bottle), 15 film rolls. You can also bring
binoculars, movie or vedio camera, laptop computer and portable
music system.
AIRPORT TAX
Passengers departing from theTribhuban International Airport are
required to pay an airport tax of Rs.600 per person if going to
SAARC (South Asian) countries and RsflOO for departure to other
international destinations. Domestic airport tax is Rs 150.
MONEY AND CREDIT CARD
Payment in hotels, travel agencies and airlines are made in
foreign exchange, credit cards likeAmerican Express, Master & Visa
are widely accepted at major hotels, shops and restaurants. |
